Longchenpa taught that the entire conduct of a bodhisattva can be summarized into the two aspects of aspirational and actualizing bodhicitta. The first of these, aspirational bodhicitta, is based upon the Four Boundless, or the Four Immeasurables: immeasurable love, compassion, joy and equanimity. Because sentient beings are as limitless as space, our practice of these four virtuees must also be boundless.
